Hunter Fan Installation Instructions

Installation is a breeze thanks to Hunter's EZ Hang Mounting System.

The Hunter Fan Company has been making quality fans since 1886. Using antivibration technology, Hunter fans have been known to be the quietest ceiling fans on the market. A triangular hanger ball system reduces torque for a smooth and steady performance. These fans are also equipped with a WhisperWind motor to provide a strong circulation without the noise. Hunter fans are mounted using an EZ Hang Mounting System for a quick, no-hassle installation.

Instructions

1. Locate a two-by-four stud in the ceiling to secure the ceiling mount. Run a stud finder along the ceiling. Stop when the light on the stud finder has indicated that a stud or ceiling joint has been found.

2. Drill two pilot holes in the ceiling joint using a power drill and a 9/64-inch drill bit. Insert two wood screws into the mounting bracket using a screwdriver. Place the screws through a flat washer and screw them in, securing the mounting bracket.

3. Run the lead wire of the outlet box through the slot in the center mounting bracket.

4. Lift the fan and connect it to the mounting bracket. Run the wires through the down rod of the fan. Loosen the square head screw using pliers. Insert the ball joint assembly of the fan into the mounting bracket. Turn the ball joint until it clicks. This indicates the joint has been secured. Tighten the square head screw with pliers.

5. Connect the wires of the fan and the wires from the ceiling outlet box using wire connectors. Twist the bare ends from each wire together and cover the ends with wire connectors. Connect the green ground wire from the ceiling to the green ground wire of the fan. Connect the ungrounded white wire from the ceiling to the ungrounded white wire of the fan. Connect the ungrounded black wire in the ceiling to the ungrounded black and white wire from the fan. Place the wires and wire connectors carefully back into the mounting bracket.

6. Install the canopy of the fan base to the mounting bracket. Align the canopy with the two slots on the mounting bracket and partially screw in two canopy screws provided by the manufacturer to the mounting bracket. Turn the canopy clockwise to fasten the canopy to the mounting bracket. Insert two more canopy screws and tighten all four screws with a screwdriver. Lift the canopy ring to the top of the canopy and turn the ring clockwise to secure the canopy.

7. Install the blades of the fan. Release the locking mechanism on the fan mount. Align the fan blade and the blade iron and clamp the locking mechanism down, securing the blade to the fan. Repeat this step around the fan to secure all of the fan blades to the fan.
