Hang Studio Mics

Hanging a condenser microphone in a studio is an ideal sound solution.

Microphone placement is crucial to the overall quality of a recorded performance. Many elements factor in to the quality, such as the acoustics of the room, and the temperature. But the quality, distance and height of the microphone are vital to capturing the best performance possible. Condenser microphones are mainly used for studio purposes and are often hung from the ceiling and left with enough height to be slightly above the mouth of the artist.

Instructions

1. Find an ideal position for hanging the microphone in the studio. Use the ladder to reach and mark the spot on the ceiling with a marker.

2. Hammer a nail into the spot on the ceiling, and then pull the nail out. Drill into the hole with the electric drill using a drill bit with a high speed twist no larger than the wood or sheetrock screw of the ceiling hook.

3. Screw the wood or sheet rock screw into the ceiling hook. Screw the butterfly anchor on the other end of the screw. Fold the butterfly anchor toward the ceiling hook, and simultaneously push it through the hole in the ceiling.

4. Pull the microphone cord through the ceiling hook. Use electrical tape to secure the length of the cord to the ceiling. Use tape so it is easier to move the microphone from studio to studio if needed.
