LEDs, or light-emitting diodes, are an energy-efficient type of light source.
The Edgemont 557 268 is a ceiling fan manufactured by Hampton Bay. Hampton Bay products are sold exclusively by Home Depot. The 557 268 features replaceable low-energy LED lighting. Unlike traditional incandescent lighting, LED lighting uses an array of small bulbs rather than one large bulb. The Edgemont 557 268's LEDs are laid out on what the manufacturer refers to as an "LED light plate." This is what will be replaced.
Instructions
1. Turn off the power to the fan using the circuit breaker or fuse box.
2. Grasp the glass with your fingertips. Turn it clockwise until it comes off the fan. Set the glass shade dome aside.
3. Loosen the two screws that secure the LED light plate. Turn the entire LED light plate until the screws are in the wider portion of the screw holes. The LED light plate will come off the fan, but will still be connected by a wire connection plug.
4. Disconnect the wire connection plug from the wire connection socket.
5. Set aside the old LED light plate.
6. Connect the new LED light plate's wire connection plug to the wire connection socket, making sure the colors match.
7. Turn the LED light plate so the screws are in the narrow portion of the screw holes. Tighten the screws.
8. Put the glass shade dome into its original position. Turn it counterclockwise until it gets tight.
