Install Shower Ceilings

A shower ceiling is easy to install if you have the right tools and a little know-how. Instead of regular drywall, use blue board or green board. It's more expensive, but you need it because it's water resistant. A new shower ceiling will make your bathroom look better and add value to your home. You can save a lot of money by doing this project yourself.

Instructions

1. Locate and mark the studs.

2. Install a full sheet, if possible, starting in the corner. Hold the board up and use your cordless drill to insert drywall screws into the studs spacing the screws eight inches apart. Use full sheets where you can and stagger them, if necessary, to avoid running seams together.

3. Measure the areas where full sheets did not fit and cut pieces to fit them using a carpenter's knife. Insert screws into the studs every eight inches.

4. Tape the seams with drywall tape. Cover all the tape with joint compound and a trowel. Wait at least four hours, then sand and repeat twice more. Prime and paint.
