You might want to add more speakers a Bose 321 system to make it louder or to provide audio to a separate room. Unlike most generic amplifiers, the Bose 321 system does not have extra connections to hook up additional speakers. However, if your Bose 321 is a Series I, you can use the audio output of the unit to provide sound to your ceiling speakers. As of February 2011, there is no supported method to add speakers to Series II or III models.
Instructions
1. Locate the studs in your ceiling using a stud finder near the area where you would like to install each speaker.
2. Use the template provided with the ceiling speakers to trace out the hole to cut. Make sure each hole is in between two studs.
3. Use your drywall saw to cut each of the holes as marked by the template. You might want to put a tarp under each area to catch debris.
4. Insert the mounting brackets into the hole and secure them to the studs with the provided screws.
5. Run wire from your central control to your speaker. This might require cutting if you do not have a tiled ceiling.
6. Attach the red and black wires to the rear of your speaker, and snap each speaker into the mount.
7. Connect the red and black wire outputs from your ceiling speakers to the back of your amplifier.
8. Connect your RCA cable from the back of your Bose 321 system to the inputs on your amplifier or ceiling speaker interface unit.
9. Power on your amplifier.
10. Ensure that the correct input is specified on your amplifier. This may be "Audio 1" or "AV in."
11. Power on your Bose 321 unit and ensure that all speakers are functioning correctly.
