Motels In Virginia City Mt

Gold mining is at the center of Virginia City, Montana history.


You'll take a step back in time when you visit Virginia City, Montana, which is "the West's best-preserved gold mining town from the 1860s," according to the Montana Heritage Commission. The town has more than 100 historic buildings, along with a stagecoach, refurbished 1910 locomotive, gift shops and a live theater show. During "living history" events, characters in historical dress demonstrate period skills. Mountain biking, gold panning, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are also available in Virginia City. Those wishing to stay a spell will find several lodging options in and around town.


Fairweather Inn


The history of this property dates back to 1863, and its antique beds and furnishings bring to mind life in the 1800s. The inn's 14 rooms include six with a private bathroom. These rooms cost $85 a night, as of January 2011, while rooms with shared bathrooms cost $70. These rates include two people, and additional guests cost $7.50 per night. The hotel does not allow smoking. The Fairweather Inn operates from mid-May through mid-September.


Just An Experience








You'll find guest rooms and cabins at a place known as Just An Experience. Guest rooms have queen beds, ceiling fans, hairdryers, microwaves and antique d cor; one of them also has a private bath. Cabins offer queen beds, sleeping lofts, full bathrooms and full kitchens. Available amenities include a spa, tennis court, horse rental, fitness center and high-speed Internet access. This property is located in Nevada City, 1.5 miles from Virginia City. Just An Experience does not allow pets or indoor smoking. As of 2011, room rates start at $125 a night, based on double occupancy. This property is open year-round.


El Western Log Cabins and Lodges


About 14 miles from Virginia City, you'll find the town of Ennis and the El Western Log Cabins and Lodges. Each cabin has a phone, satellite television and a hairdryer. Guests can access wireless Internet service on the property. Cabins may have one or two bedrooms, and some have a fully furnished kitchen. Lodges can accommodate six or 12 guests. As of January 2011, a one-bedroom cabin with no kitchen costs $91 a night, while a four-bedroom, three-bath lodge costs $449 a night. Dogs are allowed in some units if guests pay a nightly fee. El Western operates all year long.


Fan Mountain Inn


Another option located in the town of Ennis is the Fan Mountain Inn. This 27-unit motel is within walking distance of the Madison River. It offers non-smoking units with king or queen beds. Cribs, refrigerators and microwaves are available for guests. As of summer 2010, two people could stay in a room with one queen bed for $65 a night. Four people in a room with two queen beds pay $80 a night.
