Ceiling Color Ideas

Use paint to transform your ceiling.


While ceilings actually take up a fair amount of space in a room, they are often overlooked or just covered with white paint. Generally, white or off-white is considered a safe and easy choice for a ceiling. Sometimes white paint is the best choice since light-colored ceilings make walls appear lighter and brighter. But darker paint can make the room appear cozier and add interest and vibrancy to your decor.


Sky Blue


One excellent color to paint your ceiling is sky blue. It's a natural choice as we automatically equate the ceiling with the sky. As is the case with light paint colors, sky blue will create an airy and light feeling in the room. In addition, the light will reflect off this color in a striking way.


Butter Yellow








Butter yellow imparts a warm feeling in a room, especially in a kitchen and living room. It's an ideal color to complement a French Country or shabby chic decor style. If you choose this color for your ceiling, keep wall colors in neutral cream colors. Alternatively, gray blue is a great accent wall color to choose for a yellow ceiling.


White


While white is a common color for ceilings, it may be the best choice for a small room. When you paint your ceiling white, it places the focus on the furniture and walls in the room. If your walls are painted a bright and vivid color, a white ceiling looks crisp against them. If your walls are painted a light color, white makes the room look even larger and brighter.








Red


To create a dramatic look, paint your ceiling a tomato red color. Although it may make the room look smaller, it's a lovely look with lighted candles in the room. This paint color works best on the ceiling of a room that receives a fair amount of light.
