Instructions
1. Find an area in your house, preferably the basement, that is at least six feet away from any furniture or a wall. Select the support beam from which you want to hang your heavy bag and mark the spot with a pencil. Locate a stud in the ceiling if you do not have a hanging beam.
2. Find a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the width of your eye-bolt (the screw you will attach to the overhead beam). Find a sturdy chair or bench to stand on. Step up on the chair and drill a hole in the spot where you made the pencil mark.
3. Twist the eye-bolt clockwise with your hand until it is partially screwed into the beam. Insert a screwdriver inside the eye-bolt and continue twisting it until the eye-bolt is tightened. Use a money wrench, if necessary, to finish tightening the eye-bolt, as you will want to make sure the treads of the screws are fully inserted into the beam.
4. Attach the top S-hook from the swivel chain to the eye-bolt. Measure the length of the bag, then hold the measuring tape up to the bottom of the four hanging chains. Determine if your bag will hang at belt level. Add some additional chain links if you need your heavy bag to hang down lower.
5. Stand up on the chair. Get someone to lift the heavy bag up from the floor. Have that person hold the heavy bag as you attach each of the four rings on the heavy bag to the four S-hooks on the swivel chain.
6. Swing the bag around and make sure the eye-bolt and swivel chain handle the weight of the bag. Throw a few practice punches or kicks on the bag to ensure it does not pop off any of the S-hooks.
