Fly An Air Hog

Air Hogs produces the Atom Micro Heli helicopter along with a number of other radio-controlled (R/C) products. The Atom Micro Heli is the newest on the flight line and it boasts infrared controls with a rechargeable Li-poly battery for extended flight times and short recharge times. The airframe body is a foam that resists crash damage and abrasion from use. Adjustable trim settings and a tail-mounted trim tab allow for fine tuning of the controls and flight characteristics of the helicopter.

Instructions

1. Set the controller and the helicopter to the same control channel (A, B or C). Place the helicopter on a smooth surface with the nose pointed away from you. Set the throttle control to minimum throttle, then turn the power on to the controller.

2. Bring the helicopter up to a low hover of about 1 1/2 to 3 feet. Land the helicopter and slide the tail-mounted trim tab aft or forward, respectively, if the helicopter flies forward or backward without controller input. Hover the helicopter again. Push the left side of the trim button on the controller repeatedly until it stabilizes if the helicopter rotates clockwise. Push the right side of the trim button repeatedly until it stabilizes if the helicopter turns counterclockwise. Normal flight can be attempted once the helicopter is in trim.

3. Increase the throttle slowly while focusing on the helicopter. Do not focus on the controller. Make gentle and small throttle corrections. Make small and very gentle adjustments to avoid over-controlling the helicopter when turning with the directional control stick.

4. Move the directional control to the right to turn right and to the left to turn left. The helicopter will accelerate forward as you turn to the right and will decelerate as you turn the helicopter to the left. Make a short left-turn command to make the helicopter stop forward flight. The helicopter can be made to fly anywhere and return to its original position by alternating these techniques.
