Diy Tiffany Hanging Light

Make your own Tiffany hanging light.

Making your own Tiffany hanging light is an excellent way to decorate an apartment or rental property when hard-wiring lighting is not an option. A do-it-yourself lamp is also a fraction of the cost when compared to purchasing new lighting. Hanging lamps brighten up dark rooms and add a sense of your own style to your living space. Learn to make your own Tiffany hanging light fixture, and you will be sure to enjoy it for years to come.

Instructions

1. Use the utility knife to cut the outlet off the extension cord. Split the cord about 1 to 2 inches down the middle. Use the wire strippers to strip each of the strands, exposing the copper wiring.

2. Hold one strand in your hand and twist all of the tiny wires together. Repeat for the other strand.

3. Take apart the pull-chain light socket into four parts: top cap, outer casing, cardboard shell and socket. Thread both strands of the extension cord through the top cap. Push the cap down the cord and out of the way. Loosen the two screws in the light socket.

4. Wind one strand of wire tightly around one of the screws below the head. Trim any excess wire. Repeat for the other strand.

5. Reassemble the light socket and snap on the top cap. Screw in the lightbulb.

6. Attach the Tiffany lampshade to the light. Staple the cord to the wall and ceiling with insulated staples. Tie ribbon or string to the pull chain to make it easier to reach.
