Types Of Drop Ceiling Tiles

Drop ceilings are decorative and functional.

With drop ceilings, builders lower ceiling tiles into a metal, or vinyl, channel grid suspended by wires from the main ceiling. In the past, builders often used this type of ceiling to conceal wiring, pipes, and duct-work. Today, the ceiling style is usually decorative, with light fixtures possibly installed into the grid. Depending on the type of tile, drop ceilings may also absorb sound and help heat insulation.
