Painting Light Globes
Light globes do not have to be the same boring shades of white; they can be painted any color that you desire. When you want to create a lighting effect but can not find light globes in the shade that you want, you can purchase paint from an automotive repair shop (or at a local home remodeling center) that is designed to withstand high temperatures. Brush-on glass paint that can withstand heat is purchased at local craft stores. This type of paint is baked in the oven after it is applied.
Instructions
Spray On
1. Remove the light globes from the light fixture. Wash the inside and outside of each globe with warm soapy water, and rinse thoroughly. Allow the globes to air dry to avoid lint from towels getting on the globes.
2. Spread newspapers on a solid surface. It is best to paint the globes outside or in a garage to avoid over-spray getting on furniture or floors inside of the house. Set the globes on the newspapers.
3. Spray a light, even coat of paint on the outside of each globe. Hold the can at least 10 inches away from the globes when you spray them. Holding the can too close while you are painting will cause runs to appear in the paint.
4. Allow the globes to dry and apply another light coat of paint, if necessary. Allow the second coat of paint to dry for the amount of time recommended by the manufacturer.

6. Set the globes on a flat metal baking dish and apply a light coat of glass paint.
7. Heat the oven to the temperature recommended by the manufacturer. Place the tray into the oven to bake or set the paint onto the surface of the globes.
8. Remove the tray from the oven and allow the globes to cool before installing them.
