Using stencils to paint your ceiling will add visual interest to any room
The ceiling of your home generally takes up the most area in terms of square footage, but in many homes, it is neglected--not painted or decorated to enhance the look of your home. Whether you would like to make subtle changes or dramatic ones, there are stencils to suit your interest. Stencils can be purchased at any craft store. Purchase the paint separately at a home supply store.
Aztec
A unique and bold idea using paint and stencils is to create an on your ceiling. One Aztec design is the Aztec sun. Your ceiling should have a light base color, such as cream or light yellow. If your ceiling is not that color, paint the ceiling and then give it a few days to dry properly. Then use the stencil and paint the Aztec design in a coral color.
Clouds
To make your ceiling look higher and to create visual interest, paint it sky blue and stencil clouds onto it. This looks great in any room, but is particularly nice in a bedroom or nursery. Paint the ceiling sky blue and wait a few days for it to dry. Then stencil clouds onto it. The clouds should be relatively large. The exact number and pattern of clouds is up to you. They should be painted a white or off-white color.
Border Design
Another way to paint designs on your ceiling using stencils is to create a border around the ceiling perimeter. There are many intricate and beautiful stencil patterns to choose from. The color of the ceiling should be relatively light to showcase the border, perhaps a light yellow or a taupe color. Paint the border in any color that you like. One idea is an ivy type of stencil painted on the corners of the ceiling. Filigree designs are also perfect for bordering the ceiling.
