Make Ceiling Decorations

Decorations help set the mood for your parties and events. A festive spirit can easily be arranged with the right ceiling decorations. Streamers are popular, but skip the usual crepe paper and try something new. These ideas are classy enough for adult parties but fun enough for a more casual bash.

Instructions

1. Focus on the theme or season of the party. For a fancy dinner party, black and white or muted earth tones are the best choice for decorations. A Hanukkah party can be decorated in blue, white and silver. Halloween means orange, black and, perhaps, some purple. A circus birthday is perfect for breaking out all the colors of the rainbow.

2. After deciding on the colors you want to use, purchase pom-poms from the craft store in those colors. Different sizes are available to be mixed and matched or you may choose only one or two sizes and make a pattern.

3. Thread your needle with nylon thread and pass it through the first pom-pom. You can string the poms tightly together or you can space them along the thread so it appears they are floating in air. Once your string of poms is as long as you desire, cut it off, leaving 4 inches of extra line on either end. Make several strings.

4. Starting in the center of the room, tape the end of one line to the ceiling or light fixture. Drape it to the wall and secure. Continue adding strings like this, circling around the center. This will give the effect of a tent, with the pom-poms floating in air.
