Attach A Poster Bed Sheer To The Ceiling

Installing sheers over your bed takes only a little time and equipment.

A sheer canopy over your bed gives your bedroom a romantic look and cozy atmosphere. A four-poster canopy bed's design includes a post at each corner that supports a frame above the bed from which you can drape a sheer canopy. However, if you don't have this style of bed, you can still create a similar look by hanging a four-post canopy from your ceiling. With only a few supplies and help from a friend, you can turn your bedroom into a romantic retreat.

Instructions

1. Move your bed to where you want it. The canopy will create the best look if your bed is centered on one wall rather than pushed into a corner.

2. Place the ladder near one bed corner. Climb the ladder and use the pencil to make a mark on the ceiling that is directly above the bed corner. Repeat this for the other three bed corners. Make the marks for the corners at the head of the bed 2 inches away from the wall to give yourself room to screw in the swag hooks.

3. Measure the distance between the marks at the head and foot of the bed. For the sheer to hang evenly the distance between the two marks at the foot of the bed and the distance between the two marks at the head of the bed should be equal. Have a friend help you hold the tape measure. If needed, change the marks.

4. Measure the distance between the marks on the left side of the bed and the right side of the bed. Measure from the head of the bed to the foot of the bed. Again, for the sheers to hang evenly, these two distances need to be equal. Adjust your marks until the measurements are equal.

5. Screw in one swag hook at each mark until the base of the hook is flush with the wall. Hang the loops at the corners of your 4-post canopy on the swag hooks.
