Creative Ceiling Solutions

Treat the ceiling as a fifth wall to open more decorative ideas.

Ceilings are one of those spots in our homes that are utterly unforgettable. Usually painted white, they are destined to be a neutral space. However, if we decide to look at this area as a blank canvas and be creative, we can come up with ideas that will make people stand up and take notice.

Outside In

If the room is north facing, it may get little sun; take this opportunity to turn your ceiling into an indoor sky. Do the project yourself or hire a professional artist to paint the ceiling a soft blue with the faintest cloud shapes to bring in the outdoors.

Victorian Charm

Use tin ceilings to add vintage charm. Victorian styled tin tiles come in large squares and can add charm and tradition to your home. These tin tiles are usually painted in calm tones such as vanilla or light blue, and have even more character when they are actually salvaged from demolished buildings.

Wall Decals

Wall decals are an easy way to add contrast to the ceiling. Look for wall decals in animal, planet and organic shapes, such as trees or leaves, or even traditional Greek or art deco designs. Decals are removable and do not damage the paint.
