Cover flooring below the mobile home ceiling panels with heavy-duty fabric dropcloths.
If you plan to paint mobile home ceiling panels, consider a few things. First, because you will be working on an upside-down surface in a relatively compact area, prepare meticulously to prevent paint splatters and drips from damaging underlying surfaces. In addition, seal water stains or they will eventually bleed through, and choose a specific type of breathable paint that won't trap in moisture, or you could end up with sagging or mold and mildew infestations at some point.
Instructions
1. Remove any items from the room that may interfere with your ability to paint the panels.
2. Cover the flooring below the mobile home ceiling panels with heavy-duty fabric dropcloths.
3. Cover furniture, countertops and any other areas you want to protect from paint drips with plastic dropcloths.
4. Clean dust and cobwebs from the ceiling panels with a broom.
5. Cover any areas of the ceiling you do not want painted with painter's tape.
6. Coat any water stains on the panels with a spray stain blocker, such as Kilz. Allow the stain blocker to dry for one hour.
7. Apply two thin coats of flat interior latex paint to the mobile home ceiling panels, using the roller. Apply paint to any areas inaccessible to the roller, using a paintbrush. Allow two full hours of dry time between coats.
