Cut Commercial Vinyl Tiles

Tile cutters can be rented or purchased from hardware stores.

Vinyl tiles are durable and practical flooring materials that are used to protect and visually enhance kitchen and bathroom floors. Vinyl tiles are commonly used by commercial businesses because of their low cost and long life-span. When laying a new floor, you may need to cut the tiles to ensure that they fit neatly and correctly together. A professional tradesman can cut the tiles for you, but often at a high cost; you can learn cut your own tiles for a fraction of the price.

Instructions

With a Craft Knife

1. Place the protective tile onto your work surface. Place the vinyl tile you are cutting on top of the protective tile.

2. Measure the area you would like to cut. Hold the metal ruler firmly along the cutting line.

3. Grip the craft knife in between your ring finger and index finger, and allow the thumb to gently rest on the side. Score along the edge of the metal ruler, applying pressure with the craft knife onto the vinyl. Remove the metal ruler. The craft knife will have created a clean, straight cut through the vinyl.
