Hang A Hammock Chair From Your Ceiling

A hammock chair is meant to hold up to about 300 pounds, but it won't hold near that weight if it's not securely hung. Most hammock chairs come with a hardware set that includes a screw-eye and an "S" hook, but if it's not provided with the chair, a hammock hanging kit can be obtained from a hammock manufacturer. The appropriate hardware secured into a strong ceiling beam will ensure that you can sit safely in the new hammock chair.

Instructions

1. Climb a ladder to ceiling level.

2. Move a stud finder slowly across the ceiling to locate the ceiling joist. Keep moving the stud finder until it beeps or lights up.

3. Drill a hole with a wood drill bit sized about one-half the diameter of the screw eye directly into the middle of the joist.

4. Twist the screw eye into the hole until it's secure and the threads no longer show.

5. Tie the two ropes at the top onto the "S" hook. The ropes should stay equal in length on both sides.

6. Place the "S" hook on the eye screw.
