Eliminate Bathroom Ceiling Mold

Upon inspection of the corners in your bathroom ceiling, you may find small, dark dots across the surface. Mold and mildew develop easily within a bathroom because of the warm, moist air. Normally you notice mildew and tackle it right away, but the ceiling is not an area you look at frequently, so mold has a chance to grow and spread. Eliminate ceiling mold with bleach, and paint the ceiling with mold-resistant paint.

Instructions

1. Fill a bucket with 1 cup bleach and 2 cups water. Wet a stiff-bristled brush with the bleach solution.

2. Carefully climb a stepladder, and scrub the mold on the bathroom ceiling. Wet the brush as needed to saturate the mold. Allow the bleach to remain on the mold for one hour.

3. Wet a rag with clean water. Wipe the rag over the ceiling, removing the mold. Rinse the rag with water as the mold lifts from the ceiling. Continue wiping and rinsing, removing all the mold.

4. Dry the ceiling with a clean rag. Allow the ceiling to dry completely.

5. Brush paint primer onto the ceiling. Allow the primer to dry for two hours. Brush or roll a mildew resistant paint over the primer.
