Troubleshoot A Casablanca Ceiling Fan That Is Making Noise

It's not difficult to diagnose your noisy Casablanca ceiling fan

Casablanca ceiling fans are unique, elegant and generally problem-free. A common problem for all ceiling fan owners is noise. Whether the noise comes from a loose fan that is rattling or a more mysterious issue, the problem can often be easily diagnosed at home. When troubleshooting your ceiling fan, it is helpful to refer to your user's manual.

Instructions

1. Make sure the Casablanca fan's canopy pin is firmly placed within the slot on the ball located at the base of the fan. If the fan is noisy due to wobbling or shaking, this may be the problem. If the pin is not in place, rotate the body of the fan until it fits firmly. Check to see if the noise stops.

2. Check the screws that hold the flywheel or direct drive motor on the blade holders. Tighten any loose screws. Make sure the blade holders are straight and not bent. If they are badly bent, they will likely need to be replaced.

3. Check the rest of the screws for looseness and tighten any loose screws. Refer to your manual to make sure you are checking all screws. Make sure you have checked and tightened the screws that hold the light fixture, shade glass or light bulb. Check and tighten the screws that hold the blade to the blade holder, canopy screws and screws on the mounting plate. Tighten the blade holders to the flywheel or direct drive motor as necessary. Tighten screws in the motor housing, but do not over tighten or the fan will have difficulty rotating.

4. Examine the wire nuts within the Casablanca ceiling fan’s canopy and within the housing that holds the switch. Make sure they are not touching any metal parts of the fan and that they haven’t become disconnected from the wire splices. Tighten and adjust the nuts to solve the problem.
