Many children decorate their bedroom ceilings with glow-in-the-dark star stickers. When a child outgrows the stickers, or when it's time to repaint or move, the task of removing them may seem overwhelming. Use a sturdy stepladder or chair to comfortably reach the stickers, and have a second person hand you the things you need to make the job a bit easier. Also, choose one of several products known to effectively remove sticky adhesives from walls, but test it in a discreet location to check that it does not damage the paint in any way.
Instructions
1. Moisten a cotton ball with undiluted white vinegar, a cleaner formulated to remove sticky residues or nail polish remover. Use the cotton ball to moisten the edges of the star stickers. Alternatively, spray the edges lightly with a car part lubricant.
2. Wait two to three minutes for the vinegar, nail polish remover, cleaner or lubricant to loosen the adhesiveness of the star stickers.
3. Peel the stars off the ceiling with your fingers or use a plastic scraper or edge of an old credit card.
4. Apply more vinegar, cleaner, nail polish remover or lubricant to moisten the inside areas of the stickers as you remove them.
5. Use the moistened cotton ball to rub away any remaining residue after the stickers are removed from the ceiling. Or, spray a little bit of car part lubricant on the residue and rub off the adhesive with a rag.
6. Clean the ceiling with the corner of a rag moistened with soapy water. Rinse with the other end of the rag moistened with plain water.
