Put Gu10 Light Bulbs In Ceiling Fans

GU10 light bulbs are used in track lighting and some ceiling fans for a bright spotlight effect. GU10 bulbs use a bayonet mounting system, which has two prongs that must be lined up with the holes in the socket and then twisted to secure the bulb in place. Some models may require slight pressure on the bulb to collapse the springs that hold the mounted bulb in place.

Instructions

1. Turn off the electricity to the room with the ceiling fan at the breaker box.

2. Place a ladder or stepladder under the ceiling fan and climb high enough to comfortably access the light fixture.

3. Push in slightly on the outer rim of the GU10 lens and turn the bulb counter-clockwise about 90 degrees.

4. Grasp the rim of the bulb and pull it out gently.

5. Line up the prongs of the new bulb with the larger diameter holes in the GU10 socket and insert the bulb.

6. Push in slightly as you rotate the bulb clockwise approximately 90 degrees. It will lock into place. Turn on the electricity to the room and turn the light on.
