Encon ceiling fans are now sold under the name Westinghouse, but the way the light bulbs are changed is the same as with any other ceiling fan. One of three different types of light fitters or glass holders usually encases a ceiling fan light bulb. One of these fitters or holders provides enough space for you to reach in and unscrew the bulb. The other two types of fitters have to be removed before the bulb can be changed. One type is a glass globe that unscrews from the underside of the ceiling fan, and the other type has screws that hold it to a glass fitter.
Instructions
Open Glass Holder
1. Turn off the light and allow the bulb to cool.
2. Reach into the open glass holder and place your fingers on the end of the bulb.
3. Twist the bulb counterclockwise until it comes loose.
4. Pull the bulb out of the socket. Place a new bulb in the socket and turn it clockwise until it's tight. Flip the switch back on to see if the light comes on.
Threaded Glass Globe
5. Grab both sides of the glass globe with your hands.
6. Turn the globe counterclockwise until it untwists from the ceiling fan.
7. Unscrew the light bulb that needs replacing and then screw in a new one.
Glass Fitter With Screws
8. Undo the screws that hold the flange of the glass globe to the ceiling fan. Three screws is the norm. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws.
9. Pull the globe down and out of the fitter.
10. Remove the light bulb and replace it with a new one.
