Ceiling fans circulate a room's air, giving the room a fresh feeling no matter what the temperature is outside. Harbor Breeze ceiling fans not only can circulate air, but light the room with a supplied light fixture. The electrical wiring is simple enough for the average homeowner to undertake. The most time-consuming part of ceiling fan installation is securing each piece in place with the set screws. It is important to take your time to ensure all screws are tight to prevent your Harbor Breeze ceiling fan from shaking them loose and possibly falling.
Instructions
1. Turn off power to the ceiling fan's electrical wires. Check the wires with a circuit tester to ensure they will be safe to work with.
2. Loosen the locking screws on either side of the Harbor Breeze fan motor's post. Feed the wires coming from the fan motor cover into the fan's down rod, which is the metal tube the fan hangs from. Insert the fan rod into the fan motor's post.
3. Line up the down rod's holes with the fan post's holes. Insert the supplied clip through the holes. Put the locking pin through the clip to hold it in place. Tighten the locking screws you had loosened in Step 2.
4. Lift the Harbor Breeze ceiling fan's mounting bracket over the ceiling fan electrical box in the ceiling. Feed the electrical wires coming from the ceiling through the mounting bracket. Line up the mounting bracket's screw holes with the electrical box's screw holes. Drive a 3-inch wood screw through each screw hole.
5. Lift the ceiling fan motor up to the ceiling. Insert the down rod into the mounting bracket. Twist the fan motor until the down rod locks into place.
6. Cut the extra length of wire off the ceiling fan motor's wiring, making the wires about 6 inches long. Strip 1/2 inch of rubber coating off the ends of each electrical wire with a wire stripper. Hold all like-colored wires together and twist wire nuts over them.
7. Line up a fan blade bracket's screw holes with the fan blade's screw holes. Insert a supplied screw through each hole. Tighten each screw with a screwdriver. Repeat with the remaining fan blades.
8. Line up a fan blade bracket's screw holes with the fan blade holes in the fan motor. Secure the fan blade in place with the provided screws. Repeat with the remaining fan blades.
9. Plug the light fixture's wires together with the wire plug coming down from the fan motor. Fit the light fixture in place underneath the fan motor. Twist the fixture to lock it in place over the locking screws. Tighten the locking screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
10. Lift the cap to cover the mounting bracket. Hook it onto the mounting bracket's set screws. Tighten the screws to hold the cap in place.
11. Twist the supplied screws into the light fixture's screw holes. Place the light globe into the light fixture. Tighten the screws equally until the globe is firmly in place. Repeat with the remaining light fixtures and globes. Screw a light bulb into each light fixture. Restore power to the ceiling fan and test the Harbor Breeze ceiling fan's operation.
