Install A Panasonic Ceiling Fan With A Light

Installing a Panasonic ceiling fan is a way to increase air movement in the room, helping you to feel more comfortable in both warm and cool months. In the summer, the fan provides a down draft to cool the room. In the winter, you can switch the direction of the fan to help circulate heat around the room. You can also purchase a light kit for your Panasonic ceiling fan to add additional lighting to the room.

Instructions

1. Turn off the electrical circuit to the room via the breaker box. Test an outlet in the room with a known working appliance to ensure the power is off. You will work with electricity so it is vital that you turn the power off while working.

2. Mount the ceiling fan blades to the ceiling fan motor. Use the supplied hardware to attach the blades. In most cases, you only need a screwdriver to mount them.

3. Mount the hanging bracket for the ceiling fan to the electrical gang box mounted into the ceiling. Most gang boxes have universal holes used for mounting fixtures. The hanging bracket will mount up to those universal holes. Use the screws supplied with the fan and a screwdriver to secure the bracket to the gang box.

4. Place the ball on the end of the ceiling fan attachment-shaft into the socket on the hanging bracket. Secure the metal safety wire to the gang box with a screw and screwdriver.

5. Connect the wires from the ceiling fan to the wires extending from the ceiling and wrap them with wire nuts. Cover the wire nuts with electrical tape to keep the nuts from coming off. Match the green wires together, the black wires together and the white wires together.

6. Slide the cover plate up the shaft until the cover plate butts up against the ceiling. Tighten the setscrew on the collar to lock it in place.

7. Remove the electrical cover plate from the bottom of the ceiling fan with a screwdriver and pull out the electrical connectors for the light kit.

8. Connect the wires from the ceiling fan to the wires extending from the light kit and then wrap them with wire nuts. Cover the wire nuts with electrical tape to keep the nuts from coming off. Match the green wires together, the black wires together and the white wires together.

9. Secure the light kit to the bottom of the ceiling fan with the fasteners supplied with the light kit. In most cases, you only need a screwdriver to complete this task.

10. Restore power to the ceiling fan via the breaker box.
