Remove A Hunter Stanford Ceiling Fan

Removing a Hunter Stanford ceiling fan can be confusing if you are not the one who initially installed it. When removing the ceiling fan, make sure that you have a partner who can hold the ceiling fan as you remove it from the ceiling. Once the ceiling fan is removed, you can either replace it with a light fixture, another ceiling fan or install a blank cover plate to conceal the hole in the ceiling.

Instructions

1. Turn the breaker off in the main electrical panel that powers the Hunter Stanford ceiling fan.

2. Separate the fan blades from the fan by removing the screws that hold the blade arms to the fan motor.

3. Remove the trim ring at the top of the canopy at the ceiling. Locate the small bumps on top of the tab indicators. Place your fingers from both hands onto the small bumps on the ring and press in toward the canopy, flexing the ring and releasing it from the canopy screws.

4. Remove the three screws from the canopy. Turn the canopy clockwise to disengage it from the ceiling plate, exposing the fan wiring.

5. Untwist the wire connectors from the wires connecting the ceiling fan to the house wiring. Remove the ceiling fan from the ceiling plate.

6. Take out the screws holding the ceiling plate to the electrical box or ceiling joist. Take down the ceiling plate.

7. Reattach the wire connectors to the house wires. Using electrical tape, wrap the connectors to hold them onto the wire until you are ready to install another fixture.

8. Turn the breaker back on to the circuit if it powers additional fixtures. Otherwise, leave the breaker off.
