Measure For Ceiling Wallpaper

Avoid purchasing more wallpaper than you need.

Determining the amount of wallpaper for your ceiling is not complicated, but it does require more than simply pasting wallpaper in place without thinking. Many wallpapers have patterns that must be matched from strip to strip, resulting in wasted material and requiring you to adjust your calculations accordingly. This process requires only a tape measure and calculator to accomplish.

Instructions

1. Measure the length and width of the ceiling in inches. For example, the length may be 120 inches and the width may be 156 inches.

2. Multiply these two numbers together to obtain the total square inches. The example ceiling is 18,720 square inches.

3. Divide the total by 144 to obtain the square feet. The example ceiling is 130 square feet.

4. Multiply the square feet by 1.2 to obtain the adjusted square feet. This will give you a bit of extra material to protect you in case of waste. The example ceiling has 156 adjusted square feet.
