Hang Rattan Chairs

Rattan is a growing in popularity because it is a renewable resource.

You can securely hang a rattan chair indoors or outdoors so it will sway gently as you relax in the seat. Rattan chairs are woven from the fibrous stems of palm leaves. Some varieties are designed to be hung from rigid metal stands or ceilings so they are able to swing and swivel freely. Most rattan chair owners add soft pillows to add comfort to the chair. Accent your home by installing a relaxing and stylish rattan hanging chair.

Instructions

Ceiling mount

1. Locate a wood plank in the ceiling with a stud finder and mark the spot with a pencil.

2. Drill a hole into the pencil mark straight up into the ceiling.

3. Tap a screw anchor into the drilled hole before screwing the threaded eye hook all the way in.

4. Attach the swivel s-hook to the eye hook. Adding a heavy duty spring to the mount keeps the hooks from bearing the entire weight load.

5. Connect the rattan chair to the ceiling mount with a strong rope or chain. Some rattan chairs have hooks or other hanging hardware built into the top part of the chair.

Metal stand

6. Place the metal stand on a flat surface and pull down where the chair will be mounted to see if it causes the stand to wobble. Move to a new location until the stand is stable when weight is applied.

7. Attach the swivel s-hook to the metal stand. Adding a heavy-duty spring to the mount keeps the hooks from bearing the entire weight load.

8. Connect the rattan chair to the swivel s-hook or spring with a strong rope or chain. Some rattan chairs have hooks or other hanging hardware built into the top part of the chair.
