Troubleshoot An Emerson Fan

Emerson, a company that began in the late 1800s, created one of the world's first desk fans, according to the company website. Emerson specializes in ceiling fans, which typically hook into the wiring in the ceiling that connects to the wall light switch. Smaller problems with your Emerson ceiling fan may be handled at home before you have to call for service.

Instructions

1. Change any faulty fuses or reset your circuit breaker if the fan won't start up. Ensure the switch on the wall is flipped to the "on" position.

2. Tighten the screws that attach the fan blades to the motor housing if the fan makes noise when in use. Shut of the power to the room and remove the motor housing and tape any wires together with electrical tape that may be rattling.

3. Adjust the fan blades on the motor housing surface so they are seated properly, if the fan seems to wobble when in use. Tighten the setscrew in the motor coupling as an additional way to prevent wobbling.
