Mount A Stud Pullup Bar Into Concrete

Installing a pull-up bar provides the perfect workout tool.

A pull-up, or chin-up, is a basic exercise of lifting your body off the ground using your arms. Installing a pull-up bar in your home is a great way to stay in shape. Because this bar needs to carry your body weight, it must be well secured to the base. Mounting the pull-up bar to a concrete surface is done with special fasteners. For these fasteners to hold properly, they need to be installed correctly.

Instructions

1. Position the pull-up bar in the location you want mount it to the concrete wall and mark the mounting holes on the wall with a pencil.

2. Drill the marked holes with a hammer drill and a drill bit that is the size recommended by the concrete fastener manufacturer. The size of this bit is vital to the screw's holding power.

3. Insert the nylon brush into each hole and work it back and forth to loosen the debris. Place a vacuum over each hole to remove the debris.

4. Position one side of the pull-up bar so its mounting holes align with the holes drilled in the ceiling. Secure to the concrete by tightening the concrete fasteners with a socket and ratchet.

5. Insert the pull up bar into the end of the mounted side arm and secure using the bolts provided. Insert the other end of the pull up bar into the other side arm and secure using the same method.

6. Align the second side arm with the holes in the wall and secure using the same method as the first arm.
