Install An Emerson Crown Fan

Emerson has been manufacturing fan motors, desk fans and ceiling fans since the 1890s. Their ceiling fans cover a wide range of styles, designs and colors to coordinate with virtually any decor and lifestyle. It's important to install your Emerson ceiling fan properly so that it functions efficiently and safely.

Instructions

1. Assemble the fan housing according to the directions included with your specific model of Emerson ceiling fan.

2. Be sure the electricity is turned off at the breaker box.

3. Measure the black, white and blue leads, or wires, that are sticking out from the downrod assembly. Cut them off so they are in the 6- to 9-inch length range. Slice the insulation away, 1/2 inch from the end of each lead.

4. Locate the 10 round recessed holes in the motor hub, and secure one blade assembly to the hub with two oval head screws that came with the fan. Tighten them most of the way, but not completely.

5. Install the rest of the blade assemblies the same way, moving around the motor hub in a clockwise direction. Move around the hub again and tighten all the screws.

6. Attach the hanger bracket to the outlet box with the two screws that were supplied with the outlet box. Lift the fan up and set the hanger ball/downrod assembly onto the hanger bracket. Line up the groove on the ball with the tab located on the hanger bracket.

7. Connect the green grounding leads from the hanger bracket and hanger ball to the grounding conductor of supply, using the wire connector supplied with your fan.

8. Connect the white wire in the downrod to the supply white wire with the wire connector supplied.

9. Use the wire connector to connect the black wire of your downrod to the supply black wire.

10. Connect the blue wire in the downrod to the supply red wire with the wire connector. Turn all the leads upwards and push them into the outlet box. Be sure the white and green wires are on one side of the outlet box and the black, blue and yellow wires are on the other.

11. Locate the two 1 1/4-inch threaded studs that came with the fan and screw them into the holes on the hanger bracket. Position the fan ceiling cover under the studs and turn so the studs stick through the holes in the cover.

12. Position the lockwashers over the protruding studs and install the two knobs to lock the ceiling cover in place. Turn the knobs clockwise until the ceiling cover is secure.

13. Screw candelabra base light bulbs into the sockets, then use the included coupling to attach the pendant and chain to the switch pull chain.
