Install A Harbor Breeze Fan Remote

Most modern Harbor Breeze ceiling fans don't come with a chain to turn the fan and light in the fan on or off, they only come with a remote control. Programming the fan and the remote to the same frequency allows them to work together. While all Harbor Breeze fans and remotes are set to a factory number, changing the number with the dip switches cuts the chances that your neighbor could control your fan with their remote control.

Instructions

1. Turn off the light in your Harbor Breeze fan and turn off the electricity in the room with the fan at the breaker box in your home.

2. Unscrew the face place, if your fan doesn't have a light, or the light fixture plate from the base of the fan. Set it aside. Pull out the small black box inside of the fan. Set the switches on the box to a number you can easily remember. Press the button on each switch to change the number until you have the number you want.

3. Place the faceplate or light plate back on the fan and screw it in place.

4. Open the back of the remote and press and hold the button next to the batteries. The face of the remote will have a place for you to enter numbers in the display screen. Press the "Up" or "Down" buttons to select a number and press "On" to move to the next number. Once the number is the same as the number inside the fan release the button in the battery compartment.
