A Hampton Bay Minuet II ceiling fan is an attractive addition to any room, providing improved air circulation and accent lighting. Although the white painted finish is the most popular for this model of Minuet ceiling fan, bronze and black finishes are also available. The installation procedure for the 32-inch Minuet II is also applicable to other sizes and can be completed in less than 30 minutes. Review the manufacturer's parts description to identify the fan assembly parts.
Instructions
1. Turn the power off to the ceiling fixture location, using the switch at the main breaker panel.
2. Remove the fan canopy ring from the canopy cover, turning it clockwise to unlock it.
3. Loosen the four horizontal screws on the top of the canopy cover to remove the hanger bracket.
4. Unscrew the two ceiling outlet box screws to approximately half of their length and attach the hanger bracket by sliding the slotted holes on each side of the bracket over the outlet box screws. Tighten the screws until the hanger bracket is flush to the outlet box.
5. Pull the electrical supply wires in the ceiling box through the center hole in the hanger bracket.
6. Remove the lock pin from the hanger pin, the hanger pin from the motor collar and the set screws from the top of the motor assembly.
7. Route the wires coming out of the top of the fan motor housing through the motor coupling cover, canopy ring and canopy cover, making certain the slots in the canopy cover are upward, then feed the wires through the ball and down-rod assembly, keeping the ball end of the down rod upward.
8. Align the holes in the bottom of the down rod with the holes in the collar on the top of the fan motor housing and insert the hanger pin through the collar and down rod. Take care to not pinch or damage the wires running through the down rod as the hanger pin is pushed through. Secure the hanger pin through the hole in the end with the provided locking pin.
9. Hang the assembled fan motor and down rod from the hanger bracket installed in Step 4 by slipping the hole in the lip of the ceiling canopy cover over the small hook extending from the hanger bracket. This will support the assembly while the fan wiring is connected to the electrical supply wires.
10. Use wire strippers to remove approximately ½-inch of wire insulation from the ends of the supply wires extending from the ceiling box.
11. Connect the black and blue fan wires to the black supply wire from the ceiling electrical box by twisting the ends together and securing the connection with a wire nut (provided with the fan). Use a 2-inch piece of electrical tape to wrap the wire nut and wires to prevent the connection from coming loose.
12. Connect the white neutral fan wire to the white supply wire and secure with a wire nut and electrical tape as in Step 11.
13. Connect the green ground wire from the fan to the electrical box's ground connection or the green ground wire, as applicable, and secure with a wire nut and electrical tape.
14. Bend the wire connections upward and push them into the ceiling electrical box.
15. Push the ceiling canopy cover over the hanger bracket and align the screw holes, then insert the four screws removed in Step 3 and tighten. The manufacturer recommends leaving approximately ... inch of space between the ceiling canopy cover and the ceiling to prevent damage to the ceiling finish from the vibration of the fan during operation.
16. Slide the canopy ring over the ceiling canopy cover threads and rotate clockwise to tighten.
17.Attach the fan blades to the blade arm brackets with the screws and rubber washers provided, inserting the rubber washers between the fan blade and the blade arm, then inserting the screws through the blade into the blade arm bracket.
18. Install the fan blades to the bottom of the motor housing by inserting the two fan blade screws through the blade arm into the motor housing, making certain the metal tab on top of the blade arm inserts into the slots in the motor housing. Repeat for the remaining fan blades.
19. Attach the switch housing cover over the switch housing in the center of the blade rotor and secure with the three screws provided.
20. Turn the power to the fan outlet back on at the main breaker panel.
