Make Surround Speaker Mounts To The Ceiling

If you are installing a home theater system and want to get the most out of your surround sound for a true movie theater experience, you can mount speakers to the ceiling. This will give you a surround sound, allowing all the music and sound effects to permeate the room. This is actually one of the easiest parts of setting up your home theater system, and it can be done with just a few tools.

Instructions

1. Stand on a stool and hold a stud finder against the ceiling to find the studs/rafters. Mark the location of the beams behind the ceiling with a pencil.

2. Drill pilot holes using a drill and a bit slightly smaller than the diameter of the mounting screws.

3. Insert plastic anchors in the drilled pilot holes and tap in flush with the ceiling using a rubber mallet.

4. Hold the speaker mounts up to the ceiling, aligning the holes in the mounting brackets with the drilled pilot holes in the ceiling.

5. Insert screws through the speaker mounts into the ceiling, tighten by hand to hold in place momentarily, then fasten securely with a screw gun. You can now mount your speakers on the ceiling-mounted brackets.
