Cheap DIY RV Ceiling Repair
An RV ceiling is key to keeping the unit intact. Ceilings can be made from a variety of materials ranging from tiles to plaster. Over time, ceilings can start to sink from humidity, age or an accident. When the ceiling of an RV starts to sag, fix it yourself instead of paying for a costly repairman.
Preparation
Start by placing a drop cloth on the floor below the spot you want to repair to protect the floor and furniture. Cover the wall with an additional drop cloth so nothing gets dripped on the walls. Tape off all windows and trim in area to be repaired. This will protect the trim from being destroyed. If any cabinets are in the way of the repair, remove them. While wearing gloves and goggles, pull down any damaged ceiling.
Adhesive
Next, measure the area that needs to be repaired. Neatly cut fabric to the correct measurements. Put a layer of adhesive onto the back of the fabric, also put a layer of adhesive on the ceiling. Let the adhesive get sticky.
Fabric
Carefully place the fabric with sticky side facing ceiling to the adhesive on the ceiling. With a putty knife and straightedge, smooth out the wrinkles starting from the middle and working towards the edges. Make sure the edges are bonded to the ceiling. Let the fabric sit for 15 minutes, then check to make sure the edges are bonded to the ceiling.
