Bedroom Lighting Ideas

Bedroom lighting can be problematic. Many bedrooms have only one light fixture in the middle of the ceiling. Two, maybe four, little bulbs to illuminate the one room in your home that is your retreat, your place of relaxation. Luckily there are many possibilities to enhance the lighting in your bedroom.

Bulbs

Replace your lights to all low-wattage frosted or soft-light bulbs. Not only with these bulbs save you money on your electric bill, but you will also be able to enjoy a softer light. This will help you to eliminate dark, heavy shadows in your bedrooms.

Track Lighting

Track lighting will give you control over where your light goes. Move the globes to illuminate certain areas and to darken other areas. Use them to accent wall art or collections you have on display.

Recessed Lighting

Install recessed lighting to free up valuable space that is better used for other things than table or floor lamps. Placing the lights on the ceiling make your ceilings look taller by bringing the eyes up, helping to create the illusion of spaciousness.

Dimmer Switches

Replace your normal light switches with dimmer switchers. This will allow you more control over your lighting. Dimmers can add a sense of romance to bedrooms. They are also useful in the bedrooms of children who are a bit afraid of the dark, because the lights can be dimmed so it's dark enough to sleep but not so dark the child will be frightened..

Mirrors

Use mirrors in your bedrooms to reflect the light in the room. Reflecting the light is sometimes the only option if a bedrooms has only a ceiling light fixture and limited electrical outlets. Place the mirrors in areas where they will reflect the light from your lamps or track lighting.
