The Hampton Bay 52-Cl Ceiling Fan is a 52-inch-wide fan designed for larger living spaces such as family rooms and dining rooms. It has a built in light fixture so you do not loose light in the room when you install the fan. The ceiling fan uses basic wiring connections and a ceiling fan electrical box. This makes the installation straightforward and easy to complete.
Instructions
1. Turn off the breaker that controls the light fixture currently installed in the room. Test the fixture by attempting to turn it on. If the fixture turns on, locate the correct breaker and then turn it off.
2. Remove the cover from the existing light fixture, remove the bulb and then remove the screws that secure the light fixture to the ceiling. Disconnect the black and white electrical wires that connect the circuit's wires to the wires coming from the light. Remove the grounding screw from the copper wire that secures to the electrical box and place the light fixture off to the side.
3. Remove the screws that hold the fixture strap to the electrical box. Remove the screws that secure the electrical box to the joist in the ceiling and then pull the electrical box down and out of the ceiling.
4. Loosen the clamp on the electrical box that holds the electrical wires in place, then pull the electrical wires out of the electrical box.
5. Slide the wires through the access hole on the ceiling-fan approved electrical box. Tighten the screw to lock the wires in place.
6. Secure the new electrical box to the joist in the ceiling with the supplied screws and your screwdriver.
7. Secure the fan bracket to the electrical box with the supplied machine screws and your screwdriver.
8. Attach the fan blades to the Hampton Bay fan motor. You need a screwdriver and a wrench to attach the blades to the motor since the blades use screws and nuts for fasteners.
9. Place the ball located at the end of the Hampton Bay motor shaft onto the fan bracket. This suspends the ceiling fan.
10. Secure the black and blue wires extending from the ceiling fan to the black wires extending from the ceiling. Attach the white wire extending from the fan and ceiling together and then secure the green wire to the grounding screw on the electrical box. Cover the wire connections with wire nuts. Tuck the wires up into the electrical box.
11. Slide the Hampton Bay canopy up the motor shaft and butt it up against the ceiling. The canopy hides the electrical box. Secure the canopy in place by tightening the setscrew located on the side of the canopy.
12. Place a light bulb into the light on the Hampton Bay ceiling fan, then install the light fixture cover. Turn on the circuit breaker to restore power to the circuit.
