Battery-powered ride-on toys offer kids a revved up alternative to regular bicycles.
Battery-powered ride-on motorcycles are for kids and look a lot like the real thing. Choose from colorful scooters, Harley-Davidson chopper and Indian inspired motorcycles, motocross dirt bikes and a police patrol motorcycle. Children can ride on the battery-powered motorcycles from age 3 and over. Children can ride for about two to three hours with a 6-volt battery. The motorcycles can be operated using a foot or hand pedal throttle and electric brake system and some can suffice as an entry-level bike.
Dirt Bikes
Buy your 18 to 36 months old his first Scooby Doo model battery powered dirt bike. The battery lasts up to 2 hours. The Scooby Doo goes 1.24 mph, and stops when the throttle is released.
Choose the Motorcycle-Febercross SXC 6-volt Dirt Bike if your child is a little older, from 3 to 7 years. The bike takes 2 to 3 hours to charge, and it reaches speeds of 3 to 4 mph. This bike is imported from Spain.
Try a Kaylee 12-volt dirt bike for a faster ride at over 4 mph. This ride lasts a couple of hours. It is recommended for kids 3 and older and includes training wheels.
Scooters
Consider an Injusa Scooter Duo. This 6-volt scooter from Spain drives 4 to 5 mph for children ages 3 and up. It includes training wheels and stays charged for about two hours. It comes in green and pink.
Racing
Check out the Feber Mega Racing Bike 6-volt motorcycle that runs 3 to 4 mph and has lights, sounds and a radio. It is for children 3 or older. It comes 85 percent assembled and has a 6-hour charging time.
The Injusa 24-volt Repsol Pocket Bike can go as fast as 10 mph, with a ride time of about 5 miles. It is for children 8 and up. This bike is modeled after the Repsol racing bike. It has a steel frame, key ignition and freewheel, which allows the wheel to turn without pedal action and so the rider can coast.
Choppers and Classics
The Kalee Indian Kids Motorcycle in red is modeled after the 1948 Indian motorcycle. It comes with working front and back lights and has an engine sound. Kids can move backwards and forwards. It comes in red, charges for 4 to 6 hours and goes about 2 mph. It brakes as soon as your child takes his foot off of the throttle.
The American Chopper has chrome engine parts, a headlight and horn that work, and a synthetic leather saddle that's padded for comfortable riding. Children for ages 3 and over can use a hand throttle, foot brake and rear view mirrors.
The All American Classic features chrome engine parts, a head light and horn that work, a buddy seat and rear view mirrors for kids ages 3 years and over.
