Facade ceiling tiles enhance the appearence of any room.
Thermoplastic facade are a plastic made to look like tin that is durable, attractive and designed with interesting patterns. The non-corrosive tiles are applied directly to the existing ceiling or used to create a dropped ceiling. The tiles are lightweight and the installation does not require technical knowledge or skill with tools. The project typically is undertaken by two people and is completed in a weekend or less.
Ceiling Preparation
Clean the ceiling with a long-handled sponge mop dipped into a solution of one part mild liquid dishwashing detergent to nine parts hot water. Rinse by mopping with clear hot water. Repair tears or defects in the ceiling with spackle or plaster and follow up by painting the a smooth coat of primer or paint.
Facade Ceiling Tile Design
Determine the design for your ceiling based on the size of tile that fits your needs and the pattern you prefer. Plan the manner in which the tiles are placed on the ceiling to produce the most symmetrical and pleasing effect. Typically, the design originates in the center of the the placement of the first tile. The other tiles radiate from the center to the edge of the ceiling to create a balanced, attractive appearance.
Treating The Tile
Treat the tile with fiber reinforced polymer glue by using it to draw a line on the back around the perimeter of the 2-foot-by-4-foot tile, approximately 1/2-inch from the edge. Then draw a large star on half the tile and another on the other half of the tile. This process requires the use of one tube of glue for maximum adhesion.
Placing The Tile
Press the tile against the ceiling for approximately 30 to 45 seconds for the glue to bond to the ceiling. Humid climates require the application of a small finishing nail in each corner to reinforce the holding power of the glue. Use a utility knife to cut the ceiling tile to fit around light fixtures or ceiling fans.
