Cheap Kitchen Ceiling Ideas

Kitchen ceilings can be attractively and inexpensively decorated to reflect the rest of the kitchen.

Kitchens, the gathering place for friends and family, as well as the meal production room, need to blend functionality, comfort and aesthetic appeal. When planning or revamping a kitchen, people often forget to look up. They think about the color, fabric and texture for floors, cupboards, tables, chairs, walls and appliances. However, an attractive, eye-catching ceiling unites all aspects of a kitchen.

Pick an Unusual Paint

Don't be boring and paint your kitchen ceiling white, off-white or cream, as most people do. Add drama and appeal by painting your kitchen ceiling a surprising color. As an inexpensive way to alter a kitchen, paint can change the whole feel of the room. Pick a color from the chair seats, floor or counters to use on your ceiling. A light color will open up the room and a darker color will make it feel cozy

Stenciled

Stenciling is an inexpensive yet decorative way to change your kitchen ceiling. Create a quilt look by stenciling squares in a rectangular shape in two or more corners of the ceiling. Wind stenciled leaves, buds and flowers into ceiling corners and down onto the kitchen walls. Stencil fruits and vegetables along the edges and corners of your ceiling. Capture the outdoors by scattering stenciled butterflies, stars or clouds onto your kitchen ceiling.

Borders

Add a border to the kitchen ceiling. Use a wallpaper border but move it up to the ceiling. Pick a pattern that reflects the colors and design of your kitchen. Alternatively, paint the ceiling border using one, two or three different colors. Use painter's tape to mark off where to paint your border colors and to keep the rest of the ceiling pristine.

Sponged Effect

Design an inexpensive kitchen ceiling makeover using a sponged effect. Select two colors for your ceiling. Use one of the colors to paint your ceiling. Dab the second color of paint across your ceiling using a sponge. Use a large, natural sponge and apply the color randomly. Cover the whole ceiling with sponged color or keep the sponge marks to the corners and edges.
