Install Patio Ceiling Hooks

Patio ceiling hooks allow you to hang a number of ornamental home accessory items or container-grown hanging plants. One of the biggest benefits of hanging plants is keeping them away from pests and wildlife, especially if you are growing vegetables. Hanging items from the ceiling also provides more room in your yard for seating and other ornamental plants and aids in contributing some privacy if placed in front of windows. Install patio ceiling hooks for creating a pleasant ambience in the backyard.

Instructions

1. Hang the hooks in areas that meet the light requirements of the plants you're growing. Many vegetables and ornamental plants need full sunlight, which is characterized as getting six to eight hours of full sunlight a day. For shady areas of your patio, choose plants that can live in full shade.

2. Find the wall studs with an electric wall stud finder. Wall studs are strong enough to hold decorative items and hanging plants. Indicate where you wall studs are on the ceiling with a pencil.

3. Drill a hole in the ceiling for the hook. Screw the hook into the hole. You may have to hammer it in.

4. Hang the decoration or container by a chain or piece of rope. If you are hanging a container, make sure that it is not directly over a dining table to prevent the basket from dripping on people.
