Program A Craftsman Remote Control

Garage door

Garage door remotes have been a popular accessory for home security since the 1970s. These remotes allow you to control the door of your garage from your car, your house or as far away as a few hundred feet. Craftsman is among the most popular garage models in the United States, and Craftsman remotes can be programmed in minutes from your garage using only the remote itself and the motor that controls the door.

Instructions

1. Find the "smart" button on the side of your motor near the antenna wire and the light cover.

2. Press and hold the smart button until the LED light near the button goes from flashing to off, erasing the transmitter program. The light will then flash back on and remain lit.

3. Press the open button on the remote that you are programming and hold it until the LED light flashes once. The remote will now be programmed to the transmitter and garage door motor.

4. Repeat Step 3 for any additional remotes. Once you have finished with your last remote, wait for the LED light on the motor to switch back to flashing, and your programming will be complete. Your remotes will now be ready to use.
