Adjust Ceiling Air Vents

Ceiling air vents are not as common as floor vents in homes in the United States. However, they are found in some homes--especially ones that have a furnace in the attic space. Depending on where a room is located in the home, you may need to adjust ceiling air vents in order to achieve comfort in each room. It is easy to adjust ceiling air vents, and the average homeowner can accomplish this task in no time at all.

Instructions

1. Set up a step ladder underneath the ceiling air vent you want to adjust so that you can easily reach it.

2. Climb the step ladder and look at your ceiling air vent. In the center of the ceiling air vent you'll notice an adjustment handle.

3. Turn the adjustment handle clockwise to close the ceiling air vent and turn the adjustment handle counterclockwise to open it.

4. Experiment with the adjustment handle until you find a position that provides the ideal amount of comfort in the room.
