A saw is required to cut the PVC panels to fit your home.
PVC is the preferred choice for cladding material because it is corrosion resistant, durable and easy to clean. PVC cladding involves plastic panels that cover a wall or ceiling. Cladding can be attached to all types of materials such as brick, drywall and wood. Fitting PVC cladding is fairly easy because all the joints used are fabricated to fit the panels.
Instructions
1. Measure the wall or ceiling where the cladding is to be placed. Purchase "J" edges for the top and bottom edges the length of all the wall or ceiling. "J" edges are hook-shaped edges that the PVC panel slides into to attach it to the wall. Buy "H" joints to connect "J" edges together for wide walls. Corner edges are similar to molding and you need to place them over every corner, door frame and window frame.
2. Cut the PVC panels, "J" edges and corner edges with the saw to fit on the wall or ceiling. Normally these panels are 9- to 12-feet long and you must cut them down to size.
3. Apply a strip of silicon to long side of a "J" edge on the outside. Line the hook portion of the "J" edge up with the corner of where the ceiling and wall meet. Screw the "J" edge to the wall using the holes in the "J" edge. Repeat this process for the bottom "J" that is placed where the wall meets the floor.
4. Attach an "H" joint to the end of each "J" edge. The "H" joint will slide over the end "J" edge. Screw the "H" joint into place.
5. Apply silicon to the next "J" edge and slide into the other end of the "H" joint, then attach it to the wall in the same manner as before. Continue until you have framed the wall or ceiling with "J" edges.
6. Slide the PVC panels into the "J" edges and push them to the ends. Use a hammer to push the panels in if needed. To slide the panels into the "J" edges, place the bottom of the panel in the hook of the bottom "J" edge and slightly bend the panel and push it into the top hook. Push all the panels in until the wall or ceiling is completely covered.
7. Attach the PVC corner edges over the panels and "J" connectors, then screw them into place with the drill and screwdriver bit.
