Glue A Fiberglass Panel To The Ceiling

Fiberglass acoustic panels can help deaden sound coming in or out of the room. Install fiberglass acoustic tiles on the ceiling of an apartment to help deaden sound from the apartment above or to reduce interferences if you are setting up a recording room.

Instructions

1. Apply construction adhesive around the perimeter of the tile approximately one inch from the outer edge. Apply an X extending from each corner of the tile. This is the same method you will use to apply the adhesive to each additional tile.

2. Place the tile against the ceiling starting in one corner of the room. Hold the tile in place for approximately one minute while the adhesive sets. Note: if the tiles interlock, make sure you position the tile in a manner that allows you to interlock the next tile in the row.

3. Apply adhesive to the next tile and butt it up against the first tile. If the tile interlocks, place the tile next to the first tile and then slide it into the first tile to lock it in place. Repeat this process for each additional tile in the first row until you run out of room for full-sized tiles.

4. Measure the distance between the last tile and the wall with a tape measure. Cut a tile to match the measurement with a sharp utility knife. Apply adhesive to that tile and then secure it in place.

5. Repeat each step for each subsequent row. You may have to cut each tile to size to fit the last row in the room. If so, repeat step four for each tile in the last row.
