Install A Fantastic Vent Fan

Vent fans can be installed on walls or ceilings.

The Fan-Tastic Vent company's motto is "Brings the outside in...instantly." Fan-Tastic vent fans are popular among both RV and homeowners for just this reason. Installed in a ceiling or roof, they can bring fresh air into your home or RV and help circulate it. With the help of a few tools, you can install your Fan-Tastic vent fan on your own in a few hours.

Instructions

1. Locate a spot near a 12-volt power supply. If there is an old vent fan that you are replacing already in the spot, remove any screws that hold it in place. Insert a putty knife into the area between the old fan and the ceiling or wall. Pull gently to remove the fan. Avoid pulling too hard as this can damage the ceiling. Take out the fan.

2. Remove any remaining sealant from the area around the opening. Scrape the surface of the ceiling with a putty knife or other scraping device. Clean off any leftover debris or adhesive with a wet cloth so that you have a clean surface to attach the Fan-tastic fan.

3. Apply a layer of gasket adhesive to the opening. Brush adhesive onto the area around the opening with a soft-bristled paint brush or other brush. Apply the adhesive evenly to all four sides of the opening. Make sure you apply a wide enough band to support the gasket. The fan can be installed without adhesive, but this will help the gasket stay in place when you install the vent.

4. Place the gasket that came with your Fan-Tastic vent on the adhesive around the opening. Apply pressure to the gasket and hold it down for a few seconds to secure the adhesive.

5. Place the Fan-Tastic vent in the opening on top of the gasket. Place screws in the holes in the Fan-Tastic vent and tighten them with a screwdriver. Apply caulk to the screw heads to keep them tight.

6. Connect the power source. Hook a 12-volt power source to the fan. Use the wires from the previous fan if there was one. Connect the wires from the power source to the wires on the Fan-Tastic vent. Connect positive-polarity wires to positive-polarity wires.

7. Place the garnish over the Fan-Tastic vent. Place four screws in the garnish and tighten them with a screwdriver.
