Use bamboo curtains as a lightweight room divider.
Don't let living in a small space, such as an efficiency apartment or rented room, mean you cannot create rooms in your home. There are numerous options for dividing a space without walls, including the use of curtains. Bamboo-style curtains give a natural, earthy feel to a space, so consider other decor pieces in your living space before deciding to go with bamboo as a curtain choice. Bamboo curtains are made up of 1/2- to 1-inch-wide strips of bamboo woven together in a horizontal fashion to make blinds and curtains. Also remember to check with your landlord if applicable before using nails in your ceiling.
Instructions
1. Decide where you would like to make your room divisions. You may choose to divide the room in half using bamboo-style curtains, or use them to create a small bedroom area, changing area or entertainment area, depending on your preferences. Use a stud sensor to locate the ceiling joists where you can hang hooks; make marks on your ceiling with a pencil after locating the studs.
2. Hammer nails into your ceiling in designated areas to create small holes for installing the hooks; do not forget to remove the nails, and do not use nails that are larger in circumference than the hooks themselves. Alternatively, drill pilot holes into the studs. Screw the hooks straight up into the ceiling either with your hands or a pair of pliers. Use a stepladder as needed. Give the hooks a light tug to ensure that they are secure in the ceiling. Attach the curtains to the ceiling hooks while the curtains are rolled up to avoid swinging curtains getting in the way of your work.
3. Remove the curtain strings and allow the curtains to roll down as your new room divider.
