Running a ceiling fan in all seasons puts wear and tear on the bearings in the motor. To keep it running well it is necessary to oil it occasionally. It's easy to oil a ceiling fan. You don't have to disassemble anything; you just add the oil. You can extend the life of your ceiling fan by keeping it properly lubricated, and it won't make squeaky noises.
Instructions
1. Locate the oil hole by looking on the top of the motor near the down rod. It is usually located there, and it will usually be labeled.
2. Insert the WD-40 straw into the oil hole and spray well. This will remove any dirt or grime on the bearings. Allow the WD-40 to dry and evaporate for 1 to 2 hours before continuing.
3. Fill the oil reservoir with about 1 to 2 oz. of oil.
4. Spin the rotor by turning it directly or gently pushing on one of the blades. Let the blades spin for several revolutions.
5. Fill the reservoir up completely with oil, if it isn't already full. Watch as you carefully pour oil into the reservoir; when it's full it will overflow onto the top of the motor. Wipe off any excess with a dry cloth.
