Use Patient Ceiling Lifts

Patient ceiling lifts transport patients safely.

Patient ceiling lifts safely lift, reposition and transfer patients. Medical personnel or caregivers guide these lifts along a track in the ceiling. In addition, the use of ceiling lifts helps to protect caregivers from back injuries.

Instructions

1. Place the sling under the patient while seated in a wheelchair. Secure the patient's sling to the hooks on the ceiling lift.

2. Activate the ceiling lift by pressing the up button. This will hoist the patient up from his present location.

3. Guide the patient, who is attached to the ceiling lift, by lightly pushing the patient's back or pushing the hoist bar. Stop pushing when the patient is directly over the intended destination.

4. Press the down button on the ceiling lift to place the patient on the commode, examination table or other transfer site. Unhook the ceiling lift from the sling. Press the "up" button to summon the lift back to the ceiling track and out of the way.
